How can you incorporate aspects of data visualization into your lessons?

This week, as we continue to explore visual literacy, we will look at we can use infographics and data visualisations in the classroom. Creating high-quality infographics and/or data visualizations can be quite demanding and many of the best tools out there require some level of coding to get to a quality product. So, this week the focus is on interpreting and understanding information when it is displayed either as an infographic or a data visualization. How might you tap into critical thinking skills with your students by introducing them to infographics?

Our understanding for this week is that infographics and ways to visualize complex ideas and data are becoming increasingly important in our content-rich world. Do you agree or disagree?

A couple of additional tools that I’m keen to share with my colleagues include this timeline maker (check out the video here) and this simple data visualizer from Datawrapper. Both are free and neither require coding – win!
